You know it's good when you can't get it out of yo You know it's good when you can't get it out of your head! Yesterday I was once again reminded how powerful our words are. Not really because others will remember the exact words you said, but because they will remember how they felt when you said them. I reread the transcript from @amandascgorman inaugural poem "The Hill We Climb" today and just like when I heard it live, I was flooded with HOPE. I forget which devotion I read this in once, but it said hope is both a noun and a verb. It is what we have and it is what we do. If you trust in the Lord you already have hope, but we must also CHOOSE hope. Praying for our country's leaders and that we all choose to see and be the wondrous in a wounded world ♥️

This Peppermint Mocktail recipe is so easy to make! Made with a Sugar In The Raw Turbinado Cane Sugar simple syrup, peppermint sticks, heavy cream, and cream soda - it is one the whole family can enjoy. Plus, it perfectly pairs with the Peppermint Christmas Tree Cookies! Recipe is below! #InTheRaw #CookiesandCocktails

Peppermint Mocktail: 
Makes 2 servings
1/2 cup Sugar In The Raw® Turbinado Cane Sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cup heavy cream 
12 ounces cream soda
4 teaspoons simple syrup
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
Soft peppermint sticks

Make simple syrup: In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat the water until hot, but not boiling. Add the Sugar In The Raw® Turbinado Cane Sugar and stir until fully dissolved. Let syrup cool a few minutes before using.

Coat glass rim: Place simple syrup on a small plate and dip the rim of your glass into it to coat. Immediately dip the rim onto another plate with the crushed peppermint sticks to evenly coat the rim of the glass.

Make mocktail: Shake 1 C heavy cream, 12 ounces of cream soda, 2 teaspoons simple syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract in a cocktail shaker. Pour into glass and enjoy!

I partnered up with @intheraw to bring you a recipe for these adorable Peppermint Christmas Tree Cookies. A perfect cut out sugar cookie made with Sugar In The Raw Turbinado Cane Sugar (for that delectable bit of crunch!) and a hint of peppermint, topped with the most divine peppermint buttercream and crushed candy canes! These are sure to be a favorite this holiday season! #InTheRaw #CookiesandCocktails

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
12 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup Sugar In The Raw® Turbinado Cane Sugar
3 cups confectioners' sugar
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/8 cup water

In stand mixer cream softened butter and Sugar In The Raw Turbinado Cane Sugar until smooth and creamy. Add egg, vanilla, and peppermint. Beat until combined. In a large bowl whisk flour, baking soda, & salt. Add the flour mix to the wet one cup at a time, beating at low until just incorporated. Turn mixer to medium and beat 2 minutes so dough becomes very smooth. Divide dough into 2 even discs, wrap tightly in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 3 hours in the fridge.

Preheat oven 350 degrees F. Roll dough until 1/4 inch thick. Cut & place on parchment lined baking sheet 1 inch apart. Place baking sheet in freezer for 10 minutes before baking so cookies hold their shape. Bake 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Let cool before frosting.

In a stand mixer with paddle attachment, beat confectioners' sugar, softened butter, & shortening on medium until combined. Add the vanilla, peppermint, and water. Beat on high until fluffy. Frost cookies top to bottom, top with crushed candy canes and enjoy!
