Loving Lately // No. 1
After a long and tiring week we were so relieved to have a low key, rainy weekend. We laughed at how we went to bed earlier on Friday night than we had all work week, but oh was it needed! We caught up on sleep, had some good workouts, went on a long walk, caught up on work, made our favorite chocolate chip cookies, watched a movie, found new music, and added some books to our reading lists. While I love staying busy, I am also a bit of a homebody so weekends like this one have become a necessity now and then!
What I’m Loving Lately:
You already know I’m a fan of dresses, but give me a dress with a vintage flare and I’ll wear it every single day! This Gal Meets Glam dress has the most beautiful vintage detail in the buttons, sleeves and print. I saw one comment in the reviews for this dress that said it was too “Minnie Pearl” for their liking and I’m over here like, I’ll take it! In all seriousness, I love the vintage southern feel that this dress has. I would definitely classify it more Allie Hamilton than Minnie Pearl though! I did find that it runs a little large so order accordingly.
If you haven’t noticed, I am on a major flower earring kick lately! I already have quite the collection and have found myself reaching for them on a daily basis the last few weeks. You can see a few in my growing collection in this post and this post. The ones featured in today’s post are from Vivian Drew and actually come with a quartz drop which I removed for this look.
This is the movie that we watched this weekend and I cannot recommend it enough. I love a movie that’s based on a true story! It has been out for a while now so we rented it on iMovies. While it is a happy story line, my heart broke and I teared up multiple times throughout. It truly is unbelievable and heart breaking the way that we treated people and continue to treat people who are different than ourselves. It is based on a group of African American women and their contribution to NASA. There are several strong and empowering messages throughout this movie that will grip at your heart. You’ll be glad you watched this one! P.S. The fashion is fabulous.
If you follow along on Instagram you have already heard me rave about these bars. Y’all – Words cannot express how much I love these things. BUT it must be the dark chocolate chip peanut butter. I’ve tried a few other flavors in the Perfect Bar brand and they don’t even compare to this one. I typically hate any type of protein or healthy bar so this obsession was quite shocking. I first tried them out because they fit perfectly into the Faster Way To Fat Loss program that I started 4 weeks ago. I think the difference is that these bars are cold and since they are cold I feel like I am eating a big hunk of cookie dough. No kidding… They actually taste just like cookie dough to me!
Did you catch the premier of season two last night?! Like many, I was captivated by the Monterey Five during the first season of BLL and the premier of season two reminded me exactly why. I won’t ruin it for those of you who haven’t caught up yet, but I will leave you with two words… MERYL STREEP. While a bit provocative in language and story line, it is quite the Summer thriller!
