Weekend Edit // NO. 4
What a week this has been. I have sat down to type this about three times since Friday and each time I just couldn’t bring myself to hit publish. I pride myself on being an optimistic and positive person, which I try very hard to bring to every piece of content that I publish here on Going For Grace. What I also try to bring to every piece of content is honesty, so I have to be honest with you – This week has made this “What Lauren Loves” post seem very irrelevant.
Michael’s grandpa, Pap, got placed into ICU this past Monday. Those of you who know him probably know that he has dealt with some serious heart issues for the last twenty plus years. Although we all knew this day would come, there is still no way to be prepared for it. There have been what seem like twists and turns all week long and there are times that it still feels like a long road ahead. While it is not easy to watch someone you love hurting, we have peace in knowing that he is in our Heavenly Father’s hands.
So today, I come to you with a heavy heart and ask for your prayers. Prayers for peace and comfort for Pap, prayers for peace and strength for Michael’s precious dad and family, and prayers for wisdom and guidance for the doctors involved.
“May your unfailing love be my comfort.“
What Lauren Loves
MOVIE: I’ve got two Amazon Prime picks for you this week. One is a rom-com, “Little Italy”, and the other will tear you to pieces, “Forever My Girl”. “Little Italy” is a lighter, Hallmark type movie and I loved every second of it. Chalk it up to our emotional week, but “Forever My Girl” tore me to pieces. I turned it on fully intending to let it play in the background while I worked, but got so involved that I had to start it over.
THING: As we start to think about Spring, I am finding myself reaching for these beautiful blue Thelma loafers. Michael surprised me with this pair for Christmas and after a few wears I am so impressed by the brand. An investment piece, but absolutely worth it.
FOOD: Oh my goodness, these sprinkle sugar cookies have been our vice this week. They are so easy to make and perfect for Valentine’s Day.
DRINK: I’m sure this is not the first time that you have heard of the medicine ball hot tea from Starbucks. It has been my go to this Winter. So much so that I have been making them at home for about a month. Here is how I make them: Fill half of your cup with steamed lemonade and half with hot water. Steep one Teavana jade citrus mint tea bag and one Teavana peach tranquility tea bag. Add honey as desired. I found the Teavana tea bags at Publix.
SALE: Kate Spade has long been a brand that I admire and look to for special pieces. They are currently running an extra 30% off of sale items and there are so many cute pieces to choose from. Some of my favorite finds… This precious top handle bag, this too cute mini bucket bag, this pearl vase, and this striped midi dress.
